6 NEW TECHNOLOGIES
WHICH WERE THE MOST EFFECTIVE TECHNOLOGIES?
Having used the various technologies that I have listed in my newhive I have been able to decide which technologies have been the most beneficial for me in my project.
1. Photoshop
I enjoy using photoshop as it is filled with a wide variety of tools that can be used to create pieces of work be it editing images, creating collages, creating and editing font or making my overall poster. I have found that using the software has enabled me to truly be able to produce effective and intricate work. In my poster I have been able to edit the image by using various layers, brushes and lighting effects. I have used it both in construction and research. Firstly I was able to use it to create aspects of my poster. I have also been able to use it in the creation of my company ident. The software enabled me to create images or to modify images so that I could get shapes and other graphics ready to use within my company ident. As well as this I have been able to use it to show my research. I used the software to edit images and layer them together so that I could collect audience and viewer profile information.
2. Piktochart
Piktochart has been a brilliant way to show a wide variety of information. It is also an interactive presentational tool so it is a way of making work more interesting. I found it a great way to represent my research on audiences because it allowed me to use pie charts which were interactive and eye catching. It was an efficient way to show information and it allowed me to show a lot of data in a way that was succinct and visually appealing.
I have also found Piktochart good for planning as there are many different templates to choose from. The tool offers a wide variety of genres and templates so that users can make an info graphic for a specific purpose whilst also being given the opportunity to make work individual. The work can be edited or I could choose to build my own Piktochart completely from scratch. Planning with Piktochart is fairly simple as it allows for interactivity to make things easier to view and also it allows for links and lists and other key information that would be found when planning filming or planning story boards and plots. The work can be embedded into my blog and so it is visually appealing and varies from a regular blog posts. It is also easy to edit so I am able to edit and update my work whenever I want to.
3.Visme
I have found Visme to be a particularly helpful tool within my work. I have used it to compile my research and present it in a way that I will be able to easily access and read at any time. It has enabled me to space out text and use colour, images, graphics (shapes) and animations to make my work interesting and clear.
The tool allowed me to include important aspects such as being able to include video clips within my presentation. It also enabled me to include audio and links. This is a helpful part of the presentation tools as it allows me to link back to previous work and keep work linked together if necessary. I am also able to upload any videos or clips in an appealing way and I can produce text to further explain any clips using the easy layout and freedom that the tool gives me to use text, graphics charts and diagrams if necessary. I have found that when using it I enjoyed being able to use the software as it was fairly easy to pick up and navigate tools on it. I also liked the way I could embed it in my blog posts and not have to link the work on a post. I think it enables me to show my work in a very presentable, efficient way.
